Poet Laureate of San Antonio (2020-2023), Andrea “Vocab” Sanderson, will perform and present on poetry as a tool for engaging, inspiring, and uplifting communities at 7 p.m. (EST) on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.  

This online talk will feature strategies and lessons for engaging a community of readers and writers around the arts and how they might be applied to disability poetry communities.   

Sanderson has served as a Teaching Artist for Gemini Ink since 2009, is the winner of the 2019 People’s Choice Award Luminaria Artist Foundation, and a 2020 recipient of the Friends of San Antonio Public Library Arts and Letters Award. In April 2020, Sanderson became the first African American Poet Laureate of San Antonio 2020-2023. 

Additionally, her debut book, She Lives in Music, was published in 2020 and her album, She Tastes like Music, is available on all music-streaming platforms.
